EUROPEAN ASSOCIATION OF GEOSCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS

EAGE is the largest global community of research and industry geo-professionals dedicated to supporting a multi-disciplinary approach to the investigation of the Earth’s subsurface.

The wide range of expertise in our membership extends from the sustainable utilisation of the Earth’s resources such as oil and gas, geothermal energy, and minerals, to integrity of infrastructure foundations, assessment of ground water conditions, environmental protection, geohazards prevention, agriculture and archaeology.

EAGE and its members are increasingly focused on the energy transition from fossil fuels by promoting the potential of underground carbon capture and storage (CCS) and the wider adoption of alternative energy including geothermal, hydrogen and wind, all options where the geoscience knowledge and experience of our members can have a crucial impact. Often this requires special imaging techniques for the near surface for which there is a long history in geoscience. Newer avenues for geoscience include exploiting the value of digitalisation, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

International events, education programmes for professionals at every stage of their career, focused special interest communities including women and students, a portfolio of publications, and a network of local chapters worldwide are all part of the Association’s activities. Constant efforts are made to reach out to universities, relevant industries and government agencies to further knowledge and understanding of the role of geoscience in communities worldwide.

Bio: Luca Masnaghetti
Global Business Manager and Geothermal Champion | Integrated G&G Studies at SLB Geosolutions Co-chair Geothermal Energy Conference

I earned my master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2005. With 20 years of experience in the energy industry, I have held various technical and managerial roles within Schlumberger/SLB.

Currently, I am the director of the Integrated Studies group for SLB Geosolutions. The group is composed of teams of Survey Design and Modeling Geophysicists, Multiphysics experts, Quantitative Interpretation geophysicists, Rock Physicists, Exploration Geologists, and Basin Modelers who work together to deliver G&G subsurface studies for resource exploration in O&G and energy transition applications.

I am also the focal point for Geothermal subsurface characterization within SLB. I am a member of EAGE and SEG, with several contributions to international conferences and workshops, both as presenter and as committee member, and director at large at the Italian EAGE-SEG section.

Bio: Saba Keynejad

Head of Geosolutions at Geocento
Co-chair Geothermal Energy Conference

Dr. Saba Keynejad received her Master’s degree in mineral exploration with a focus on geothermal in 2012. She obtained her PhD from the University of Arizona in 2018, developing machine learning approaches for subsurface characterization. Since then, Saba has worked in the energy and environmental sectors, providing analytical solutions to subsurface imaging, geothermal research, and sustainable practices. She now applies her expertise to drive innovative initiatives that shape the organisation’s growth strategy and business transformation.

Beyond technical work, Saba has been actively involved in leading conferences and webinars within her company and externally. She aims to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration through these events. Saba also participates in mentorship schemes focused on women of color in the energy and technology industry. As co-chair of EAGE GET2025, Saba brings a wealth of experience spanning academia, industry, and leadership. She looks forward to bringing together geothermal experts to drive the field forward through open dialogue and partnership. Saba is honored to help convene important discussions on the conference stage.
