“It’s a fantastic event to have here. And we’re really happy to sponsor this event, as TGS, the gold sponsor for this year’s event. It really brings everybody together. And what we need to do to make the energy transition work is to share, experience, collaborate, because we need to move fast. And we can only do that by understanding what we need to do. And, a conference like this is a perfect venue to do that.”

Ben-Dewever
Bio: Ben Dewever

Senior Geoscientist – Carbon Capture and Storage Capability team
Shell

Shell Subject Matter Expert (SME) on carbonate reservoir modelling with 15+ years of experience in the energy industry. I have worked both Exploration and Development projects in most of the major carbonate reservoir provinces around the globe (Barents Sea, Middle East (Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi-Arabia) and the Mediterranean (Italy, Tunisia and Albania), Sichuan basin & the Great American bank.

Because of the variety of basins and projects that I worked in, both during my studies and in my professional career, I have a wide experience in sedimentology, stratigraphy, geochemistry, seismic interpretation and structural geology. This wide experience makes me an excellent (data) integrator of different datasets, something that is crucial for adequate subsurface uncertainty and risk assessment.

In my current role as part of Shell’s CCS capability team, I support projects around the globe with the development of CO2 storage pore space while building CCS capability within Shell. My main tasks involve reservoir and cap rock characterization and modelling as well as CO2 containment risk assessment. I focus particularly but not exclusively on carbonate pore space.
